What it does

Built to be trusted — by you and your doctor

Repeated blast exposure — from breaching, artillery, heavy weapons, or training — can add up over a career. This tool helps you capture that history, weigh it against the published science, and decide whether it’s time to talk to someone.

Document every exposure

Log blast events across your service — weapon, distance, protection, and frequency — and build a cumulative record over time.

Track your symptoms

Record the symptoms that matter (headaches, sleep, memory, mood, balance) so you can see patterns and changes over time.

Grounded in the science

Your exposure is weighed against published blast-injury thresholds — with the references built in, so a clinician can check the work.

A report to bring to the VA

Turn it into a clear, plain-language summary you can hand to your provider to start the conversation about care.

FAQ

Blast exposure & the VA — common questions

Can I claim TBI from blast exposure with the VA?

Repeated blast (overpressure) exposure is recognized as a cause of traumatic brain injury, and the VA evaluates TBI claims that include blast exposure. This tool helps you document your exposure history and symptoms so you can bring an organized record to your VA provider. It does not file the claim, guarantee a rating, or diagnose you.

How do I prove blast exposure to the VA?

There is no single “proof,” but a clear, detailed record helps: what you were exposed to (breaching, artillery, heavy weapons, IEDs), how often, and the symptoms you’ve had since. This tool turns that history into a one-page summary you can hand to your VA provider.

What are the symptoms of blast-related TBI?

Commonly reported symptoms include headaches, sleep problems, memory and concentration trouble, mood changes, balance issues, and ringing in the ears. They overlap with other conditions, so they’re worth a medical evaluation — a high score here is not a diagnosis.

Is the TBI risk estimate a diagnosis?

No. The report gives a research-based estimate of your exposure and risk to inform a conversation with a clinician. It is not a diagnosis, not a medical device, and not a substitute for a VA or medical evaluation.

Is my information private?

Yes. Your exposure and symptom records are stored securely, never sold or shared, and you can delete your account and data at any time.
